48 Free Applications for Webmasters and Developers

After a long research, I decided to make a list of most used free applications for web developers and designers. All of them are tested on Windows XP and Vista, and most of them will work on more recent versions of Window. I’ve also added editor’s rating (level 1 to 5.One is poor, five is excellent) and level of “easy of use” (level 1 to 5.One is easy, five is hard) I will continue researching and adding more free tools to the list.

27 Free Web Applications for Webmasters and Developers

XNView – Free Photo Viewer

Overview
XNView is a freeware program that can be used as an image viewer or as a graphic file converter. It can open around 400 graphic file types.

My favorite image viewer right now is Google’s Picasa 3 and I guess the best way to test XNView is to compare it with Picasa. Fot this purpose I chose a monster JPG file, 42 megs in size with a resolution of 13616 per 9888 pixels, a picture of my country’s map, Romania. Overview
Pivot is a highly entertaining freeware program that allows you to build your own stick figure animations and save them as .gif files. It might be a useful program too.
Review
As soon as I learned about this program I said to myself: “I really have to try this one”. I downloaded and installed it immediately and started to play around with the sticks 🙂
