Web Hosting Reviews

by James 3 June 2009 No Comment

Last autumn I took this blog to another level by switching from Blogger to WordPress and from free hosting to paid hosting. I spent quite some time browsing through the various web hosting offers and I ultimately chose GoDaddy because thay have good client support and because I bought the domain through them too. Everything went smoothly but last month I was quite annoyed because the blog went down several times, sometimes even more than an hour. I guess I sould have expected that since it’s on shared hosting, you pay less, you get less… Now I’m thinking about getting a virtual dedicated server or something like that, so there we go, I have to browse through all the offers again.

The good thing is that there is a website that offers great web hosting reviews, it’s called Web Hosting Geeks. There is a lot of information available on their website, user reviews and the various incentives that the web hosting companies offer to their clients. I went to the dedicated server┬ásection and had a look… Maybe this option is still too expensive for me, I might have to wait a little longer before I’d be able to afford something like that.

Another option that I had in mind is green hosting, companies that use alternative energy to power their servers prove to be responsible towards the overall good shape of the planet. Obviously, the website also has a section dedicated to green hosting where you can read reviews about the various web hosting providers and their strenghts and weaknesses. At Web Hosting Geeks you can also add your own reviews, read their blog and go through the various top tens and awards sections in order to make a very good decision in picking the right web hosting provider for your needs.
