Volvo – The Game is a free racing game that gives you the opportunity to drive Volvo cars on nicely designed race tracks. You can also compare your scores and join the international online competitions.

I am already playing some great free racing games, the open source TORCS and the very entertaining TrackMania Nations Forever. But I won’t say no to a new racing game if it’s free Volvo – The Game was developed by the Swedish company mainly to advertise their cars but that doesn’t bother me as long as the game is good and entertaining.

First of all you have to create an account and activate it. You will receive an activation email, follow a link in that email and you’re ready to go, it shouldn’t take more than a couple of minutes.

You can choose your car from various Volvo models, from the newest to the classic models that everybody knows.

There are only two race tracks to chose from, Gothenburg Eco Drive Arena in Sweden and Chayaka in Ukraine. Both tracks are very well designed and realistic, good virtual copies of the real things. Overall the game graphics look nice and tidy. I played a quick race using my standard PC keyboard and I must say that it was pretty darn difficult to control the car, I finished last

I found a video that demonstrates the gameplay and I guess it would be better to watch it and decide for yourselves if it’s appealing or not. As far as I’m concerned the good looks of the game made me try harder and get used to the very sensitive control of the car.

So far I’ve finished only last but things are improving The good thing is that you don’t have to own a top notch computer to play this game. Here are the minimum system requirements:

Processor: 2.4 Ghz Intel Pentium 4

Memory: 1 GB RAM

HDD: 1 GB hard disk free space

Graphics Card: DirectX 9 compatible with 128 MB memory

Overall Volvo – The Game is a good free racing game that can give you some nice moments of harmless fun. However, I don’t see anybody getting addicted to it soon.
