by James 14 June 2009 2 Comments

Overview

Networx is a freeware program that can monitor your network connection and give you relevant data reports about your bandwidth usage.

Review

Did you ever think about how much of the bandwidth you pay for each month you actually get to use effectively? I thought about that a few days ago and I decided to find out how much bandwidth I’m really using. The freeware program that might help me with that is called Networx (quite a nice name) and it’s quite straight forward and easy to use. After installing it you’ll se its icon in your taskbar and the real time network usage graph if you want it. If you right click on the program icon you get access to the various features.

You can also run a speed test and see how your network connection behaves, you’ll find out your maximum and average transfer rates easily.

But the main feature of the program is the monitoring and reporting. The program will quietly monitor your network activity and generate reports about the network usage. You can export the reports to multiple formats, from HTML to .doc or Excel spreadsheets.

You can also easily perform basic network tests right from Networx, such as Ping or Trace route or NetStat.
