Software Informer is a freeware program that mainly acts as a software updater, but it also has a community of users that can ask and answer questions about the programs.

I had installed Software Informer a few weeks ago but I got mixed up with all the work that I had to do and I forgot about it. I updated my favorite software updater recently, SuMo, but I was a little bit disappointed with how it worked lately, giving many “false alarms” and taking me every time to a web page that is filled with ads. So I remembered that I wanted to try Software Informer, and I finally did. The first good thing is that it found the same number of installed programs as SuMo, 92. The surprise was that it found more updates, 38, 7 more than SuMo did.

If you click on the update link in the program it will open a web page with all the updates that are available for your programs. Unfortunately you can only download them one by one.

So far so good, as a program updater Software Informer seems to be better than SuMo. But there’s more. There’s a community of users that can help you to solve different problems that you have with your software. You can ask questions, give answers, rate the programs etc. And the best thing is that registering on the website is not obligatory.

And last but not least, Software Informer is still in beta. I can see a good future for this one.

Software Informer is my new favorite software updater and it’s a young freeware program that can really go places. I hope it will become better and better and that it will stay free.
