Free Music

I think that each and every one of you downloaded at least one song for free as a result of piracy. Artists began to complain that their work is stolen, users continued to download, some websites were closed, but the problem was never solved. I stumbled upon an interesting website with a pretty cool initiative: free music to listen and download, but the artists still get paid. Is that possible? It seems it really can be.

The website is called Kerchoonz and it is still in beta. Let me explain how it works. I signed up as a fan (you can also sign up as an artist or producer) and in only a few minutes there were lots of songs I could listen to and download for free. I told you that the artists still get paid. That’s right, they do. The advertising on the website is used to pay the artists for their work. And even more. If an artist refers another artist to join the website, he gets paid for that. So basically everybody wins. I get free music, the artists get something for their effort and the possibility to build a name for themselves.
Now don’t expect to download Beatles music for free, that can’t be possible soon. On Kerchoonz you can download interesting music from independent artists and labels, and soon from major labels too! It can really be an alternative to piracy. I really hope it will work.
