Picasa 3
Overview
Picasa 3 is a free program that tends to be more than a photo or image viewer, a complex application for a new generation.
Review
The image viewer that I chose to use was IrfanView, a legendary freeware program. But things are changing and IrfanView doesn’t seem to keep up with the pace. Many of you suggested that I should try Picasa 3. So I decided to give it a go.
And I must say I was quite impressed. The feature list is quite long, as the program offers many awesome possibilities. The main thing is that, as an image viewer, Picasa is great. The preview function is very good, lightweight and fast. If you go further and you want to retouch your images Picasa offers quite a few possibilities, enough for doing some quick edits to your photos.
As for the rest of the features, they are quite impressive: you can sync your files to your Picasa Web Album, create and edit movies, make screen captures.

IrfanView is history! Picasa 3 is something from another century, a complex and yet easy to use freeware program. I’m definitely going to keep this one!

Thanks for the review. When I downloaded Picasa3 it grabbed 99,667 MB of space on my hard drive! I assume something went badly wrong! It also removed all my photos from my 2007 Picasa 2 folders from my hard drive and half of 2008. I’m a compulsive backer-upper so have not lost the photos but was very upset at what happened. Would really appreciate any ideas about this problem!
Picasa 3 takes only 55 MB on my PC. I didn’t have Picasa 2 installed, so maybe that has something to do with it. Did you first uninstall Picasa 2 and after that installed Picasa 3? Maybe something went wrong because of that. I had no problems at all with Picasa 3 so far. Please come back with more info.
Slds.

I haven’t tried it yet, but I think I’m still going to like Irfanview better for some reason. I think I’ll just stick with IrfanView.
