Process Tamer v2.09.01

by James 28 November 2008 5 Comments

Process Tamer is a freeware program that allows you to monitor and control the CPU usage of the processes that are running in your PC.

The Windows Task Manager  gives you some basic info about the CPU usage of your processes, but the adjustments you can make are minimal. That’s why I chose to try Process Tamer, a freeware program that would allow me to be in control, set rules and so on.
The first good thing about Process Tamer is that it’s tiny and quite easy to use. You can set some rules, giving processes high or low priority or you can let the program take care of that automatically adjusting priorities to prevent your system from becoming sluggish because of a process that is taking too much CPU.

If  you want to shut it down, just double click the icon in the system tray and it’s off.

Crystal_Clear_action_edit_add Easy to use.
Crystal_Clear_action_edit_add Can be turned on and off in a second.
Crystal_Clear_action_edit_remove Does not have a memory usage module, you can only monitor the CPU usage. Although it’s free, you have to register on the author’s website and get a license key that you will then have to renew every six months or something like that.

I’m keeping this one because it has really proven its utility in the few days that I kept it running on my computer. If I will find a similar freeware program that would include memory usage monitoring and adjusting this one will be uninstalled.

I use Process Tamer on all my main PC’s and Laptops to stop any particular process “taking over” and stopping other things I want to be getting on with. Posted a detailed review a while back if anyone is interested.
