Best Free Memory Testing Program
Good day folks, it’s RAM day on the Freeware Mission! First I’m going to pick a freeware program to test the reliability of my memory modules and later today you’ll find out which is the freeware I chose to optimize my RAM. Let’s see what I chose for testing now.
I think there are two options available: MemTest and Memtest86+. The difference is that MemTest test your memory right into Windows and Memtest86+ tests it at boot time, because you’ll run it from a bootable cd. Obviously Memtest86+ is more accurate and reliable, but the simple MemTest can be useful if you want to test your memory modules quickly when you suspect something is wrong.
I have both programs and I think I am going to keep both of them
I reviewed MemTest a while ago, and the review is still available. You can download MemTest from here, it’s free.
Memtest86+ is an open source program based on the famous Memtest86, also an open source program. The latest version, v2.01 is the best so far, with support for 45 nm processors and with a 20% reduced pass duration.
You can download Memtest86+ from here, it’s free!
Later today on the Freeware Mission I’ll tell you which freeware program will be in charge of optimizing my RAM, stay tuned to find out.
