Best Free AntiSpyware

by James 28 November 2008 11 Comments

The Freeware Mission continues even during the Olympic Games! I’m running for my own gold medal, trying to run my PC with only freeware programs installed. Today I’m going to pick a free AntiSpyware program. I’m not looking for resident real time protection, but for a freeware program that would be able to find and remove any spyware, malware, adware threats.

The free antivirus program that I’m using, Avast, offers protection against spyware too, but it can’t face the competition of a specialized program. It finds the most obvious spyware threats and removes them, but the free AntiSpyware program that I chose found and remove a lot more threats. I tested quite a few free antispyware solutions but the best one was by far SuperAntiSpyware – Free Edition. It detected the most threats and it was the fastest too.

The Free Edition has very few features compared to the commercial one, but has the most important features: scans, finds and removes spyware. And that’s all I need.

You can download SuperAntiSpyware Free Edition from here, it’s free!

Have you looked at HitmanPro as well?
BTW I love your project. I have been thinking about using only freeware myself. Now you have made it a lot easier for me. Thanks for the effort.

Yes, I checked Hitman Pro, but I’ll wait for the v3 release, they promise a whole new approach. I’m glad my work was useful for you.

Check out also Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware the free version don’t include the resident protection.
This one make a very good job removing some fake antivirus like Antivirus 2009 and others missed by Spybot or Ad-aware.
