SUMo v1.4 – Keep Your Software Updated For Free
I always try to keep everything in my computer up to date: drivers and software. I recently reviewed a driver updating freeware, now it’s time for a program that keeps your software up to date. This freeware is called SUMo (Software Update Monitor) and they say it can track your software updates easily. Let’s see how it works.
The setup package is only 1.1 MB, so you’re in for a quick download. The installation process took me less than a minute to complete. After you launch the program you’ll see a wizard screen where you can choose to let the program automatically scan your computer to find installed software.
The scan process doesn’t take very long. From what I’ve noticed the program scans everything under a “Program Files” folder and the Windows “System 32” folder. I think it also scans the registry, but I might be wrong about that.
After a couple of minutes the program showed me a list of the installed software in my computer. If the list isn’t complete you can manually add more programs by pointing the application to the executable file of the respective software.
Overall I think this freeware is a good one to have, because the various software in your computer won’t update if you don’t use them very frequently. And when you need to use them maybe you’re not in the mood for downloading and installing an update. I plan to use SUMo once every month maybe to keep my software up to date.
You can download it from here, it’s free!
