Best Free Download Manager
The Freeware Mission continues towards the goal: a freeware only PC! Now I need to find a good, the best free download manager. There are several options available and I’ve tested many of them. The result? I will not go with the most popular program, FlashGet. I chose another freeware program which I believe is better. Wanna guess which one it is?
It’s Orbit Downloader! The first thing that I liked about it is that it’s simple if you want too keep it simple but can offer various advanced options too. It integrates with Firefox 3, my preferred web browser, so instead of Firefox’s download window I can get this one.
Secondly, it’s quite fast. I needed this because I’m downloading a lot of freeware now for testing purposes, and I don’t want to wait in front of my computer for ages. I used Orbit Downloader to get about 150 MB worth of freeware programs and it was all over in less than 10 minutes, with my uTorrent downloading stuff like crazy in the meantime. And I have just a regular bandwidth.

And last but not least, Orbit Downloader can grab video files from YouTube. But not only that. It can get videos, music or files from Myspace, Imeem, Pandora or Rapidshare… maybe just about from anywhere.
Orbit Downloader can work just fine with Internet Explorer, Opera, Firefox and Maxthon. I think that the features are quite impressive, so my decision is made.
You can download Orbit Downloader from here, it’s free!

This was the 17th episode of the Freeware Mission (or at least that’s what my counting says). There are more than 20 to come, plenty of great freeware to install! Stay tuned!

For firefox users like us I think FlashGet+FlashGot(Addon) is better option.
What about FreeDownloadManager? Its also freeware and opensource.
I had one problem with Orbit…after installing, it would redirect me every time a page couldn’t be found (404, stuff like that).
Annoying as all hell, though I can’t remember if that was automatic, or something I (erroneously) chose when I installed it.
