Miro 1.1 – Free Online TV

by James 22 November 2008 2 Comments

Miro is probably the most interesting online TV application. It is based on the well known Video Lan Player graphic interface. Most of the online TV applications offer streaming for regular TV shows, but Miro is dedicated to the online broadcasters who offer digital content in separate files.

In Miro you can browse through about 3000 online broadcasters, and some of them are well known stations like National Geographic or Discovery Channel. I highly recommend Classic Cinema Online, where you can download and watch full length classic movies.

The download uses the BitTorrent technology and I must say it’s very fast, took me about half an hour to grab a 90 minutes movie (and my bandwidth is rather poor). After you download the file you can choose to watch it fullscreen or in a window or you can keep the file and watch it later. You can choose the download destination path in the options menu.

After playing around with it for some hours I can say that Miro 1.1 is a breakthrough application in the Online TV world. It even has High Definition content! You can download it from here. It’s absolutely free, no ads in it, it’s very good.
