Cam Studio 2.0 – Free Screen Recording

by James 22 November 2008 3 Comments

Some of the screen recording software I’ve come across were selling for as much as 300 bucks. This little one, Cam Studio 2.0, is absolutely free. Making a screen recording with it is quite simple. I’ve done just a test recording in no time. Here it is:

The thing I found most useful in this program is the possibility to use the codecs that you have installed in your system to do the recordings. Yes, even DivX or Xvid. There are only two formats for the output files, .avi and .swf (flash video).
You can record audio to go with your screen capture, either from your microphone or your speakers.
I found this tool very good for making a quick tutorial to use on a website or just for your friends. And may I remind you, it’s free! You can download it and find out more from here.
